cow not a petty affair

Many people may correlate cow with a particular region, but if we try to  understand the depth of this subject than we could understand that this subject is not so petty.Correlating it with a religion may result in the loss of depth in the true meaning of cow.Subject of cow is not so shrinked ,it does not talk about a small patch of people but talks about the whole world. Cow is not the form of a religion but it is the form of Dharti Maa (Mother Earth). Cow teaches us unity, love, generosity&kindness not hatred and violence.Killing people on the name of cow and spreading hatred is not the true sense of gouseva (serving cow).

mrignayani and lakshmi

This picture features two beautiful cows of ramanreti -Mrignayani and Lakshmi feeding their calves Bhima and sawar
This seen is missing in most of the dairies.Cows are treated as milk giving machine instead of  living creatures . According to saints and knowledgeable people first the calf should consume the cow`s milk and then the remaining should be consumed by humans .But just the opposite happens in dairies and even in some goushalas. Is it humanity?  are they doing fair with these beautiful speechless organisms.A baby is the one who deserves his mother's milk first.

Indian cow goes global

The Gyr is a type of cattle  originating in India. It is an important milch cattle breed of India. The cattle cow best known for its milking prowess. The origin of the breed is in the Gir forest region and surrounding districts of Saurashtra region of Gujarat State. But Gujrat has only around 3,000 pure breed gyr cows left. And now, the Gir breed is set to go global.Brazil has emerged as the world's biggest supplier of improved cattle embryos and semen of Indian origin, now rated among the best dairy breeds in the world. The demand is particularly high from African and Southeast Asian countries. The Indian 'holy cow' has turned out to be a great money-spinner for Brazil.Even NewZealand started research to differentiate between the milk of an Indian cow and a jersey  cow and in 1994, a patent was registered by the NZ Child Health Research Foundation for ‘A Method of Selecting Non-Diabetogenic Milk or Milk Products’. The patent document first identified A1 protein(found n the milk of Holstein cow) as a trigger for diabetogenic activity based on a study on mice. Earlier, a similar hypothesis had been given by R B Elliot based on the observation that children in Polynesian islands like Samoa had a low incidence of Type 1 diabetes than Polynesian children in Auckland. With rising awareness the demand for Indian cow's milk which contains the A2 protein is day by day increasing in Australia, UK, Newzealand as A2 variety of beta casein protein is better for our health as compared to the A1 protein.

ARE DAIRY FARMS PRISON FOR COWS ?

Most of us get milk from dairy farms .But most of us are also unaware of the bad condition of cows in dairy.Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their young. In order to force them to continue producing milk, factory farm operators typically impregnate them using artificial insemination every year. Calves are generally torn away from their mothers within a day of birth, which causes them both extreme distress. Mother cows can be heard calling for their calves for days. Male calves are destined to end up in cramped veal crates or barren feedlots where they will be fattened for beef, and females are sentenced to the same sad fate as their mothers. After their calves have been taken away from them, mother cows are hooked up, two or more times a day, to milking machines. Their reproductive systems are exploited through genetic selection, despite the negative effects on their health. Artificial insemination, milking regimens, and sometimes drugs are used to force them to produce even more milk—the average cow today produces more than four times as much milk as cows did in 1950.For cows , going to the slaughter is like being hanged to death but dairy is just like life time imprisonment.

During my last visit to Vrindavan i felt very dissapointed by seeing the pitiable and bad situations of cows there. At a place where lord krishna used to roam with cows , today there only, cows have to roam at streets and eat the waste material .When we will learn that the real meaning of religion is  not to go to the temples but to help those who need us. In srimad Bhagavat Gita also  lord krishna has taught to do karma and help others . Even  river Yamuna has become the largest excretion ground for the people of Vrindavan . If we do not care about them then why we are calling them mother? so lets do something to save vrindavan and make it again a beautiful place .
save cows! save yamuna ! save vrindavan  !

Cow + eat + polythene = die

Every year ,  thousands of cows die because of eating polythene . It gets accumulated in the stomach and chokes the intestine. 40 kilos of plastic was removed from the body of a sick cow which was brought to ramanreti for treatment. But sometimes its effect is so severe that we are not able to anything . In search of salt , cows on the roadside eat polythene with leftover food and thus the polythene damages there digestive tract.WHAT WE CAN DO?1 .MINIMIZE the use of plastic bags and using cloth or paper bags.2. Do not throw polythene with leftover food on the roadside.By taking this small initiative we can contribute a lot in saving our mother earth and cows.

PLEASE SAVE ME

                                   PLEASE  SAVE  ME !!!!!

Since ancient times Indians have considered cow as their mother. In every ceremony we use milk products made from cow's milk. But is the cow just a milk giving machine? Most of the people give their cows to the slaughter house when they stop giving milk or when they turn old . But do you leave your mother on the roadside or kill her when she turns old?if not then why we do not care about this speechless animal. Is it not their right to live?are they only made to satisfy the greed of humans? even if you don't consider cow as your mother then just as a sign of humanity please don't kill her.Not just cow , think about all the innocent and speechless species that are in danger and save them Because When you kill animals your showing the world that who is the real animal.

WHY COWS?

   why we chose cows?

About Cow - Significance of the Cow

The cow is considered as one of the most sacred animals in India. Millions of Hindus revere and worship it. The cow has myriad qualities. The characteristic of the cow of providing Life supporting Milk has elevated its status to the level of a Mother Goddess. Therefore, the people respect it like a Maternal Figure.

The Cow as a Provider

The holy cow is perhaps the most harmless animal in the entire world. The best characteristic of a cow is that it gives so much yet demands nothing in return. As we know, there are innumerable dairy products made out of milk e.g. Butter, Ghee, Curd, sweets and what not! The Hindu rituals are never complete without Ghee and curd is considered as a lucky charm by many. Whereby, they find it essential to have it before doing something important. The cow dung is used in the making of Fertilizers that stimulate the farming process. It is also saved, to be used as fuel and produce heat and electricity. For many years, the bull was extremely important for our lives. The bull used in agriculture to tilt the land to produce food grains. It is sad that floored by the growing technology we have forgotten the significance of the cow in our Life.

Religious Significance of the Cow

The holy cow also owes its significance to Lord Krishna, the famous deity of the Hindus. His childhood was spent in Gokul near Mathura. He was brought up in the family of a milkman, ‘Nand Baba’. Lord Krishna grew up as a cow herder in the midst of cows and ‘gopis’ (Milkmaids). He is also addressed as Govinda and ‘Gopala’ which means ‘protector and friend of cows’. Even the bull has immense value in the Hindu Mythology. If cow is the mother, then the Bull is the father! The Nandi bull, it is believed was the vehicle of Lord Shiv and the gatekeeper of Shiv and Parvati. The North Indian Temples are filled with the sculptures and images of Nandi bull. On the other hand, the ‘Kamadhenu’ cow also has tremendous religious significance. She was miraculous and gave her devotees whatever they desired. She is considered to be the mother of all cows.

Ayurvedic Significance of the Cow

Ayurveda understands the importance of a cow. It is a great exponent of the ‘sattvic’ qualities of milk and the dairy products. Yogurt, Butter Milk, Organic Milk, ghee and other milk products are not only nutritious but provide calcium and Protein to the Tissues. Ghee and cow dung used in ‘Yagna’ fire ceremonies complete the ritual but at the same time, it helps to purify the air. Ayurveda also believes that some diseases cannot be healed by medicines alone and they propagate ‘Panchamrit’, a drink that is supposed to be blessed to heal. It is ‘nectar of gods’ made of 5 items – yogurt, ghee, honey, sugar and milk. It is distributed at the end of religious ceremonies. It is said that the ‘Panchamrit’ fills a person with divine energy and heals him from within.

Conserve the Cow

The cow plays such an important role in our lives yet we fail to acknowledge its significance. It is said our ‘Bapu’ Mahatma Gandhi became a vegetarian because the cows were being ill treated. It is sad that since the cows are harmless, we have stopped caring about them. Its time, we came out of our cocoons and started thinking about our real ‘care takers’. It is imperative to save and maintain them or the time is not far when they will be extinct. We cannot undermine their importance. Just imagine the circumstances if our children are deprived of the nutrition provided by the cow and the condition of our crops in the absence of cow dung! It is time for action!
Let us come forward and volunteer for cow service. Cow service is also considered to be a sanctifying act! Let us help with our body and soul. We can serve by working in the cow shed (GAU-shala) or by any other way. Whatever way we feel, we should save the cow, for our children, for humanity. The cow is the symbol of the divine gift of earth. Come, let’s save it
